Dear Friends I come to you once again to ask for your prayers!

My darling grandson Tyler {16}
was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma {stage 4}

He spent 9 days in the hospital,

He is home now surrounded by the love of his family.

The Chemo treatments are kicking his butt!

My heart is breaking...he is so sick and I feel so helpless.

Our family has had its share of tradgeties this year,

with the loss of my nephew and my mum, our emotions are on over load!

If you could please take a moment and ask God to help Tyler,
my family and I would be ever so greatful!

Stairway to heaven

My mum walked the stairway up to heaven this morning

She is no longer suffering in pain

She is reunited with my daddy {the love of her life}

my brother, her grandson Kyle and other family members

all waiting to greet her!

God Bless you mom

I will miss you

but you will always be in my heart

and I will treasure all those happy memories!

I love you with all my heart!

Waiting for Jesus

Dear friends

My heart is heavy today!

Last night mum told us she is ready to go to heaven, she wants to die!

Such hard words to hear coming from the person who gave birth to me, whom is always my strength and inspiration, someone I love so much!

Mum has always been so strong and lived a very simple life, loved everyone and accepted all for their good and never seen the bad in anyone.

I thanked her for being a wonderful mum and an awesome grandma to my children!

I asked her to come home with me so I can take care of her and be by her side when Jesus comes to take her home.

She said she didn't want to burden anyone or us have bad memories!

Even now she is still taking care of us.

Maybe its selfish of me but all I want is for her to come home with me, lay by her side and hold her hand as we wait for Jesus to come and take her home.

Maybe she will change her mind.....
We are meeting with the Hospice team today!

My Sweet Momma

Hello sweet dear friends,

I can't believe it has been so long since my last post!

Summer was crazy hectic to say the least!!

We had buried hubbys' aunt, and 2 dear friends!

Also my nephew Kyle lost his battle with leukemia.

Kyle {19} was diagnosed in February and lost his battle in July.

He was so strong and such an inspiration to all of us!

August 10th my mum {Pat} was admitted into the hospital,

She had a heart attack, then her kidneys were failing, she has 3 blockages in her heart and a valve needs to be replaced, but she is too weak for any surgurys at this time.

She has been thru so much, fluid filled her lungs, she had 2 blood clots in her arms, internal bleeding {which was an ulcer} her oxygen, blood pressure, and hemaglobins were fluxuating!

Now she is slipping into depression!

45 days later she is still there laying in bed staring at the ceiling. Girls I am so broken hearted, I feel so bad that there is nothing I can do! I wish I could help her, I wish I could get her out of bed and take her for a walk outside to see the leaves changing colors and smell the fresh air!

I wish I wish I wish!

Mum is afraid to be alone and wants only my dear husband to stay with her at night.

No one else will do, she feels safe and comfortable with him being there.

Bless her heart.

My brother stays occasionally to give hubby a break but he is still mourning his sons death so it is very hard for him to sit and watch helplessly too!

Hubby loves mum as if she were his own mother and she loves him just as much!

They are so cute together, he feeds her and makes sure she has anything she could possibly need! I know she is in good hands!

He is such a blessing!

I don't mean to spill all this on your laps

but many of you have emailed and asked if I was ok!

I am ok.....
hanging on to Gods hand and praying for his strength and healing.

Mum is 79 and says she has lived a good life and ready to go home but we are praying she has enough strength to make it a few more years!

your warm thoughts and prayers for my mum are greatly appreciated!

I was sittin on the porch having a cup of tea and this wonderful,

sweet smell filled my scenses

and made me smile.

I looked around and noticed the lily of the valley and lilacs

were filling the air with their beautiful scent.

I grabbed my camera to capture their beauty then grabbed my pruners and snipped

a few bunches to bring in the house!

Mmmmmm it smells so good!

so dainty and attractive to the fairies

It's a pitty party

I know you really don't want to hear about all this but, it just may make you feel better.

Recap of my past three weeks .....

Went up to the old house to turn on all utilities for the home inspection {the buyers want done}

The well pump was froze and cracked.

We had that replaced { a whopping $300}

Turned the water on....

No pressure... we had to get the air outta the lines...

****the frustration is building*****

Ok all set.....the water should be making its way to sinks, tubs and toilets

sloooooowly.....very slowly.. waiting waiting waiting

go upstairs....no water yet....go to basement

flooded... water everywhere

> insert a few swear words < and screams for a mop and rags

Got that cleaned up

Go upstairs.. water is pouring from the ceilings

>more swear words and more frustration<

Cleaned that all up

Go upstairs {2nd story}

the master bathroom is flooded

>throws hands in air and screams<

>oh and more swear words even louder<

We got that cleaned up.

Hubby and I are NOT very happy at this point

I call the company that came out and winterized the house

They gave me the run around

I called the realtor to get him on the ball to get this fixed since the house was left in his hands

A lil over 3 weeks later and I am still waiting for them to send someone out to fix the water leaks and damage.

I call them everyday and get the run around, you never speak to the same person each time you call.

Incompitent people and companys tick me off

{what about honesty, taking responsibility, your reputation, & customer service????}

Also.....

hubby hit a deer {Thank God he is ok and there was not much damage to his truck}

Then his transmission went out on his truck.

The gas line on my car split somehow

{at $4.oo a gallon there were more swear words heard from afar}

mind you we are not a swearing family ** really we are not **

My desk top has a virus that I just can't think about right now

My nephew has lukemia so I went to spend the day with him at the hospital

and it tore my heart out to see all of those children with cancer.

Someone whom I thought was a very dear friend stopped talking to me {that broke my heart!}

Our daughter came home with broken glasses so off to the eye doctor for new glasses.

This week we have a funeral to attend {murder/suicide} a guy we went to school with, we were not very close to him but our daughter is friends with his niece.

I am on stress over load and have been having a pitty party here.

Ok Doll so how is reading all of this going to make me feel better you ask......

Just when you think you have problems...you hear someone elses' and yours aren't so bad!

Today in Michigan we had wonderful weather

Our first taste of SPRING

I opened the doors and windows to let fresh air in,
ahhhhhhhhh it smells so good

I walked barefoot thru the grass

{euu, don't look at my toes that are in desperate need of a pedicure}

The greening of the grass is so exciting.

I even started raking so that I can fertilize soon!

I spied the tulip bulbs I planted in the fall...popping their heads up

I am excited to watch them grow and bloom.

{This will be our first full spring in our new old home}

I loved sitting on the porch visiting with friends & neighbors!
So many people were out and about today
{We are all de-hybernating}

Mum has been doing better, she had a pace maker put in today!

Because her heart was slowing down in the night as she slept!

I pray this solves that issue.

Her kidneys are failing and its just a matter of time before she has to go on dialysis.

I pray her kidneys stay strong for as long as they can!

I have not had time to blog lately because my mum has been in the hospital,

she came home for a few days but is back in as of last night!

Plus my computer is down and I don't have the time to take it in to get fixed!

Good news we sold the house up north! Here

That is a big relief.... two house payments and maintaining two homes is hard!

I have a love affair with chairs.... I just can't pass up one that is unique or orphaned.

Hubby doesn't get it... but I tell him "they are like lost children,

they need someone to love them and give them a good home!"

Our carriage house has several... many many many... chairs or all shapes and sizes

{just ask hubby, he started hanging them on the walls to make room!}

Let me explain.....

I have always been, and still am, the one BEHIND the camera!

We have very few pictures of me.

Any pictures we do have I critique and usually hate for anyone to see me.

That is why I have not had my picture on my profile.

BUT this year I am taking baby steps to " put myself out there."

Reading blogs and having so many friends out in blog land.....

I want to put a face with a name.

I want to see who lives in that house, who decorated that beautiful cherry filled kitchen, who painted that picture!

Putting a face to a name is always fun!

Scarey if you are on the other end though.

Like me... I am camera shy.

I think I take bad pictures..... am over weight and have saggies!

But you guys are my friends and friends don't judge! Right?

So this year I am taking baby steps and am putting myself out there.

This is a challenge for me.... big time.

Our Empty Nest

Hubby and I are now empty nesters

Last weekend we moved our baby girl {23} to Wisconnsin
To start her new life!

We drove through the night
so there were not many photo opportunities
but here is what I got!
*The Chicago Skyway toll booth*

The Chicago sky line was beautiful at night!

As we arrived in Wisconnsin
the sun was just starting to rise

Before we left we had all the furniture arranged,
emptied many many boxes, got the cupboards and pantry stocked
and even hung some pictures!
It was a long emotional ride.
It is so hard when the last baby leaves the nest!
Any advice for this lonely mom trying to adjust?

Keeping positive thoughts
and counting on God to keep us strong!

I am back

Hello sweet dear friends.
I can't believe its been months since my last post.
Time flies when you are having fun!
:-) I am missing my blog buddys.

We are moved in and enjoying our beautiful new home!
Our neighbors are the best... we already feel like family.
So blessed to live here.
I haven't done much as far as decorating and making many changes
to the house because we have been way too busy thus far!

You see our street is FAMOUS for its Halloween displays.
We have met people from all over
> example > Australia, Texas, France, Kentucky,
Missouri and so on.
It is truly amazing the talent and ideas our neighbors come up with!
I am serious when I say some of the displays are hollywood/disneyland quality!
Animated, walking, talking, unbelievable,
you really have to see it to believe it!
Saturday we had an open house birthday party here for our son and daughter.
All of our guests were amazed at the amount of people that walk up and down our street looking at the displays!
Over thousands each night.
We have been told last year there were 2000 trick or treaters.
Yep 2000.
Thats a whole lotta candy to buy and pass out!
I will share pictures of some of the displays with you tomorrow....

We are on the move again!
I swear I have gypsy blood!
You see I can't stay in one house for too long!
Thankfuly I am married to a wonderful man who puts up with my whims.

and all that not so fun stuff
but I am excited to have the opportunity to live
in an 1800s victorian queen anne !

My dream come true!
She needs some TLC and lots of elbow grease to make her shine again but I am up for the job!
And I will take you all with us as we renovate this beauty!

She needs a name..... don't you agree every home needs a name?

The back porch even has a swing and potting/gardening cabinet!

as you may have guessed life is alil bit......
NO a lot bit hectic right now!
We have 2 houses, we are trying to empty the old one out
to get it ready to list
and freshen up the new one before we move in!
Plus the 15th - the 18th we are having a big ole bash
that can not be canceled......it was planned a year ago!
So I have a weekend long farewell party
{with over 75 people coming here to camp out}
to get ready for!

I have been missing you all......

I went with hubby to the scrap yard the other day
to help unload his truck full of rusty scrap metal stuff.

Oh my gosh the saying
"One mans trash is another mans
{in this case womans"}treasure!
Was so true this day!

See that green metal chaise.... I so wanted that!

I really really wanted to dig to see what else
was buried in that pile

See this green chair..... I wanted that too!!!!

Hubby refused to take anything home
and I could not dig anything out because I had my flip flops on!
Next time.... I go and he stays home!

A Hunting We Will Go

We have been house hunting!
Do you love to look at old houses?
Come with me and take a peek......

This one is a huge castle like victorian... I'd feel like a princess living here!
We looked at this house years ago and its back on the market......
I know the outside leaves lots to be desired!
NO curb appeal, no yard!
But the inside is amazing.... yes amazing!
I will do a post on this house soon.
I took a lot of inside pics!

Loooove this second empire home....
beautiful bay windows, the architectural details are amazing!
The yard is just as beautiful!
It has an offer pending! :-(

This one is beautiful inside and out!
A lil queen ann victorian cottage!
It features 2 of those amazing bay windows
and all those amazing architectural details!
{it is tugging at my heart}

I love this one...
but the drawback is.......
its on the main road and I am not sure we want to hear all that traffic noise!

Cute.... but too arts and crafts style!
Too boxy for me if that makes sense!

I know my heart stopped when I saw this one too!
The outside is amazing... I mean breath taking.....
BUT
the inside was a real let down....painted molding and plain and simple!
I know I could do a lot to it but its out of our comfort zone!
Its one of those homes that are priced too high but you have to see it anyways!

Summer Lollishop Design Team

I am so thrilled to tell you,
I was chosen to be part of the
Summer Design team for Lollishops

The wonderful Miss Sadie
{creature of Lollishops.com}
had this great idea to send random things
to the designer and ask them to create
something/anything with these various items!

The items she chose are items that
can be found in her her lollishop Gumball

I chose to start with this shadow box frame
that I had sitting here staring at me

I painted it white then shabbied it here and there.
Put pretty PINK paper on the inside,
sewed the vintage card
to pink paper, antiqued the edges

added lace, pearls, flowers, and vintage buttons sprinkled
with german glass glitter, for a teeny bit of sparkle

The wood frame is accented with 2 yoyos made
from vintage fabric pieces and a lace ribbon
topped with a blue ribbon that says "Cherish"

A one of a kind piece created by me for you!
The perfect accent piece for a beachy shabby cottage!

Still learning

Being a mom to 3 adult children is still a challenge each and everyday!
I want to catch them before they fall,
I want to keep them safe ,
prevent tears and a broken heart,
I want to guide them in the right direction and help them to make the right decisions.
But I have been struggling so much lately!
I have come to accept that I am NOT GOD and I have to put our children in his hands....only he can do the things I am trying to do!
I have to accept things as they are, and just be there after wards.
and know they they will heal and be stronger, and learn from their mistakes!

God ..... grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference!

After 4 funerals in 2 weeks, {being on the emotional roller coaster,}
it feels so good to be back in my comfort zone!

I don't know about you but......
I don't do well being away from home for long periods.

There truly is no place like home!

9 am Sunday morning hubbys' dear cousin was found in a ditch still alive after being hit by a drunk driver around 1 am.
The driver apparently was at the same wedding Johnny had attended that evening.
He had struck Johnny with his car, went home and went to sleep, the next morning he called his lawyer to say he had hit someone while driving home the night before!
Johnny did not survive, blunt forced tramma and the cold night had taken his life.
He walks with Jesus now and will always be in our hearts!
The horror of the story is a daughter lost her father,
a mother and father lost their only son on mothers day,
our family and friends are heart broken!
Please don't not drink and drive
and
please support mothers against drunk drivers!

This tulip reminds me of a peony or an old fashion wild rose!
"Angelique" the perfect name for such a beautiful flower!
Not your typical tulip!
I planted a bag full last fall and it seems that the squirrels feasted on them because only 3 bulbs popped up!
The others disappeared!
You can bet,
I will be buying more this fall and putting fencing over them to keep the squirrels away!

I was having grandbaby withdrawals so I went downstate last week to spend some time with our grandbabies and to have some bonding time with my daughter and son!
I will keep my words short since there are many pictures......

While I was downstate I went to my dr and he told me I fractured my shoulder blade!
My shoulder has been hurting for about 6 months,
I have been putting cream on it and ice packs and heat but it hasn't healed... that's why!
How long does it take for a fracture to heel and stop hurting?

so I am here today to show you all what wonderful baskets
I received from my partners
and the baskets I had fun creating for them!

This precious basket is from the infamous Miss Viv out on a whim.
She filled it with her precious felties,
there is Miss Lambsy and Quakers the duck
plus 2 eggys and an edible chocolate egg too! :-).

I have always admired your sweet felties!
I am thrilled to have received these precious treasures!!

Above is the Easter basket I created for Miss Viv.
Green gingham fabric wraps the yogurt container base!
I love ruffles so I added plenty of crepe paper ruffles to the bottom
accented with german glass glitter for extra pizzaz,
and I ruffled the top with lace!
Oh la La.......
A bouquet of posies adorn the ribbon tied
to the sparkely chenille handle!

This is the Easter basket I made for my other partner Erin.
Yes more ruffles {I did mention I love ruffles didn't I}
I love the combination of pinks and lavender especially in the spring!
This too has german glitter glass around the bottom ruffles... for sparkle!
I love this basket I sure hope Erin loves it too!

Erins' basket was filled with a cupcake candle, lace, ribbon and tags
and such that I thought she could use for her tote boutique!
Erin creates the sweetest totes
{you should go to her shop and take a peek}

Above is the sweet Easter basket I received from Erin.
In my favorite colors pink n green.
She filled the basket with such sweetness.
Take a look at that egg holder {sa-weet} and the rubber stamp, ribbon, tags,

A bucket of chicken

Now this is what I call a bucket of chicken.......

Lisa Lovebug {a.k.a Mr. Friendly}
loves to play in this 5 gallon bucket that hubby has left on the porch.
She just pecks at the bottom and turns and turns around
in it like its a merry go round,
poking her head up over the side every now and then!!
She is too darn silly!
{ she also keeps the cats entertained }

On another note: remember me telling you we had 15 roosters?
Well they all { except one} got butchered !
Now the hens are more friendly and relaxed!
And laying regularly!
:-) {eggs for sale} :-)

Spring Tease

YES YES YES......
I am loving this wonderful spring like weather God has blessed us with these past few days!

Even though we still have plenty of snow left {a lot has melted}
I couldn't wait to hang my bedding on the line to dry!
I love love love sun dried laundry!
It smells so fresh and wonderful!
Yes I do hang my laundry out all winter {it's called freeze dried} :-)
Do you wanna bet my neighbors think I am crazy! {te-hee}

Today the sun was shinning bright so it dried pretty fast!

And since we have been cooped up all winter we decided to take advantage of this wonderful day and do some yard work!
I had a few pines to cut down....
Wonderful day to burn them since we didn't have to worry about causing a forest fire!
Anyone ready to roast marshmallows?
I am walking on sunshine today!

It's Party Time

With my birthday party this saturday I knew I had to do something quick or there was not going to be a Birthday Girl at the party!
After being sick for too long {thinking it was my yearly cold}
I went to the Doctor to find out it was Bronchitis with a touch of pneumonia.
Why I didn't figure this out sooner is beyond me!
I get this cough every year around this time..
I always just let it run its course using vicks and advil and garlic tablets!
The good news issssssss.........
the antibiotics are kicking in and I am feeling better! Not 100% but I am on my way!
I will be able to attend my 50th birthday party as planned!

WOW the big 5 OH...... I know its only a number. But....
When I was in my twenties that was OLD!!!! {te-he}
I am feeling very blessed with my life,
and can't think of any place I'd rather be right now!

Happy Birthday Princess

Today is my Lil Princess' birthday!
Miss Emma turned 3 today!
{already... I can't believe it}

Love her silly smiles.... her contagious laugh...... and beautiful blue eyes!
She is Gwammas lil ray of sunshine!
And growin so fast!
When we talk on the phone,
it is usually a long conversation because she loves to talk on the phone
so we sing ABCs and twinkle twinkle
and she always asks to talk to Pa and Aunt Ding!

She used to say when asked "Emma how old are you" she'd say "I 2 n half"

Now she holds up 3 fingers and says she is 5....

My niece bought her sunglasses for Christmas
and she insist on wearing both pair at once! :-)

I put pink lights on the holly bushes and when the snow fell on them
it looks pink from the glow of the lights!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas
and are ready to begin a new year!

Its that time again....
Time for My 3rd annual vintage heart swap!
The past 2 years have been a huge success...... over 200 bloggettes joined!
That's a whole lotta heart swappin girls!
I am excited to do it again this year!

Here is the swap scoop.....

You will be paired with one partner.....

for your partner you will fill a container with heart treasures!

The container can be of your choice, store bought or handmade...

ideas>>>> heart shaped basket, bowl, box, stocking, bucket, bag, etc
Fill it with anything with hearts on it or heart shaped in pinks, white or red!

examples, hankys, chocolates, vintage valentines, note pads, plate, bowl, candy dish, linens, laces, ribbon, scrap booking goodies, candles, soaps, confetti, stickers, barrettes, etc.

My five simple requests are...

1. keep the color scheme pink, red and white

2. include at least one vintage heart item

3. all of the items have to be heart shaped or have hearts on them!

4. make sure your partner receives their goodies by February 4th!

5. please communicate with your partner!
Communication is the key to a successful swap!
Email them, read their blog, ask questions get to know your partner....
swaps are not just about giving and receiving its about making friends!

If you are interested.... email me your name, home addy, email addy, and blog link,
ALSO let me know if you are willing to ship international or prefer not to due to postage costs!

sign ups taken until January 8th,

I will send you your partner on or near January 11th,

and your Vintage Heart Swap goodies should be sent in time for your partner to enjoy them for Valentines day!!

I love Santa mugs....I want to collect more!

Some of you may have seen these santas from years past. Most of the santas I have are painted by me!

I made this plate for our youngest when she was 2 years old!

I painted these spool santas when I was in my country decor stage....
still love them!

This big guy stands next to the kitchen tree.... I found a great old wood foot board and cut the posts off and painted this santa with one and plan to paint an angel with the other!

This will be my last post for a few days.... We will gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of
our Savior Jesus Christ!

Cherry Kitchen Christmas Tree

This is a new addition this year!
I put a tall skinny Christmas tree in our Cherry cottage kitchen!
{I didn't have any ornies for it so I searched past christmas boxs and found a few and bought a few}
I will add to it thru the year!

Handmade from my HEART

Every Christmas I give our children and grandbabies a Special
"From my heart to yours" gift!
These are a few of the things I have made this year.....

This year the girls each get an apron..
this one is two sided for Coral Lynn

Yep she is a Milley Cirrus/Hannah fan

This tiny one is for Maddy {Corals lil sister}

The John Deer apron/ tool belt is for Lil Guy {Corals lil brother}
Coral and Lil Guy are at that age where if they don't each get the same thing they fight over it!
So I made Lil Guy a MAN apron....
he can wear while playing at his tool bench and when he helps daddy and sissy make cup cakes and pudding {their favorites}

These are Cams bibbies....
Cam is 7 months old!
Teething and drooling so momma can never have too many bibbies

This lil cutie is for Miss Emma......
She loves to have tea parties and make cup cakes!
AND she LOVES gwammas CHERRIES too!

I apologize that I have not been making my visits but I am over whelmed with all the emotions and things still to do this season!
Please forgive and know that I miss you all!
